Genealogy & Womens History Month 2005
March is Women's History Month and this year's theme is "Women Change America."
This year I thought I'd help you change American by providing you with links that explain how to locate your female ancestors. As you know, if you have been doing genealogy work for any length of time, our women ancestors are almost invisible. I'm going to rectify this situation by showing you how to find those illusive women.
The best way to locate your women ancestors is by discovering their maiden name through marriage records. For more detailed information read: Chasing Women: Marriage Records and Their Value in Locating Female Ancestors.
After marriage records the next best way to locate a woman's maiden name is on birth records. These are sometimes hard to find if you don't have the supporting information. After birth records you can look into Military Records for a woman's maiden name. This will help in a lot of cases. For more detailed information read: Finding Your Female Ancestors with Military Records. http://www.heritagequest.com/magonline/html/l_010626.html
Your next step is to locate death records. This will sometimes list the maiden name. For more detailed information read: Using Death Records to Locate the Ladies in your Lineage. http://www.heritagequest.com/magonline/html/l_010612.html
Our next stop is the census records. Here is a wonderful article on how to use them correctly. For more information read: Census records - Locating women in the census. http://www.heritagequest.com/magonline/html/l_010619.html

Learning About Family Genealogy Backgrounds
The treatment of diseases like Multiple Sclerosis is very complex at times because there has been no cure identified for it. Many researchers have studied Family genealogy backgrounds to look for evidence of birth effects that could be associated with any stage of Multiple Sclerosis. Since it is a progressive disease that is controllable, researchers hope to find a path to follow to show that at some point in the family history, certain maladies were controlled by some factor.
Finding Your Genealogy
One activity that many families find rewarding and exciting is researching their genealogy. Who doesn't want to know where they came from?
